Senate Runoff

The votes have been counted. Trump 2020 is no longer a future reality, and 2021 is starting off strong for the fate of America. The votes didn’t lie. What took us by surprise was the great flip from the Southeast. Georgia, a known swing state, was declared blue, giving Biden 16 electoral votes in his favor. With 100% reporting, it was a close call but all 4.9 million votes were accounted for. This is the true mobilization we were looking for; the future is here, the future is now.

Who said it better was American politician, voting rights activist, and someone who served in the Georgia House of Representatives, Stacey Abrams. What we lack is resolve and passion to change our future. Sometimes it feels like there is no hope for the future and we have to succumb to what fate throws at us. Abrams says otherwise, speaking and devoting her life to pushing for voter turnout and empowering Georgians to do what is just for our society. “It is about us, it is about the democracy that we share.” Abrams has found several efforts, including the New Georgia Project, and Fair Fight, to help educate voters old and new of their democracy and their voting rights. She has worked tirelessly, loss after close loss since 2013 but the fight still continues today. We stand by Stacey Abrams, we believe in every word and devotion to changing the future of Georgia and the US. She is the icon for unity, education, empowerment, and mobilization of the masses.

In news for the Georgia Senate runoffs, Jon Ossoff has won the race against Republican David Perdue. Perdue is a close ally of Trump, criticizing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, expressing support for the PROTECT Act and RAISE Act, voted against a spending bill for the Defense, Health and Human Services, Labor and Education departments, and opposes same-sex marriage. Jon Ossoff opposes the Trump administration, supports abortion rights and comprehensive immigration reform. Ossoff opposes prison sentencing for nonviolent drug offenses and defunding the police.

For the special election after former Senator Johnny Isakson resigned, Democrat Raphael Warnock won the race against Republican Kelly Loeffler. Raphael Warnock has been endorsed by several Democratic Senators and former presidents Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter. Warnock supports expanding Obamacare and endorses the BLM movement. Kelly Loeffler plans to spend $20 million of her own money on her campaign to serve two more years in the Senate and Supports the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. Loeffler opposes the Marxist principles of the BLM movement and trusts in the Trump administration against fighting COVID-19.

Control of the Senate has reached its conclusion. Democrats won both runoffs and now have control of the chamber. This is possible because Vice President Kamala Harris will break any ties of the runoff. Now any negative effects of the Trump administration will be undone and discriminatory legislation will be reversed. The LGBTQ+ community will rise again once Trump’s homophobic and transphobic bills are eliminated.

What does this mean for the future of America and the Senate? Trump’s administration will be reviewed and until then, they will be frozen. This means any discriminatory and xenophobic acts he administered will no longer have any effect now that Biden and the Senate has regained their democratic powers. These leaders will now use their legislative powers for true checks and balances in the government. No longer will the oppressed and shunned minorities of America be under the racist Karens and Kyles. 2021 will be the rise of equality, equity, and unity of the U.S. All the other countries have been watching, it has been the U.S.’s time to shine again over these melancholic global crises.
